FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Colorado Springs, CO) - After a week of trials and tribulations; Paul Dallenbach Racing is pleased to announce a 2nd place finish in the Open Wheel class at the 100th Running of the Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Presented by Gran Turismo, with a time of 11:06.387. “Overall, I would say I’m pleased with the results of the day after everything the team went through chasing electrical issues that were resolved late in the week,” stated Dallenbach. “I can’t thank my team enough for the long hours put in each day to get the car ready; we faced a lot more than we anticipated and they kept a positive outlook the whole week.” The day was met with rain, fog, and cold temperatures making for a challenging race. Starting from 17th in the run order allowed the team to monitor the weather and make the decision to run Yokohama rain tires. Feedback from officials and other competitors was that the course was wet a majority of the way with dense fog in places. By the time Dallenbach was at the start line the course had dried quite a bit causing the rain tires to be pushed to their performance limit. “There were many places that slicks would have been the better tire to have on the car but being unable to fully predict that course conditions made the rain tires the go to option,” stated Dallenbach. “This was probably the most challenging Pikes Peak I’ve raced. Fog would set in, and it became a race course that I didn’t recognize.” Dallenbach’s appearance this year at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is made possible through his sponsors; Alpine Banks, VP Racing Fuels, Goebel Construction, Yokohama Tires, Haltech, BRM Americas, Force Engineering, Sign Edge, Podium Karting, Dumonde Tech Racing Oils, Under Pressure Performance, and Project Daytona. “We are fortunate to have sponsors who are so generous and into racing, actively participating in our race preparation,” remarks Dallenbach. About the Sierra Car ALPHA - The ALPHA is one of a kind, producing twice its weight in downforce using the big carbon fiber wings. Making up to 600 HP with a Garrett turbocharger. The power to weight ratio rivals the top hypercars in the world. About the Race - The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is the second oldest motor sports race in America - Only the Indianapolis 500 is older - and a longstanding tradition in Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region. First competed in 1916, this year marks the 98th running of the "Race to the Clouds." The running of the race will take place on Sunday, June 30th with race related events during the preceding week. The infamous race is run on a 12.42 mile course with 156 turns that begins at 9,390 feet and finish at the 14,110 foot summit of America’s Mountain – where America the Beautiful was penned - Pikes Peak! As the gutsy drivers climb toward the summit, the thin air slows reflexes and saps physical muscle strength. The thin air - two miles above sea level - also robs engines of 30% of their power at the summit. Competitors and vehicles must be in top shape simply to finish...let alone win!
