(Colorado Springs, CO) – Paul Dallenbach Racing is pleased to announce a 2nd place overall finish in Sunday’s 98th Running of The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Presented by Grand Turismo, with a time of 9:36.181, just .6 seconds behind first place. In addition to the 2nd place overall finish, Dallenbach finished 2nd in the Open Wheel Class. The top four finishers were separated by a mere 2 seconds with 2 classes battling for the win, making this one of the most competitive fields in recent history.

Even a recent neck surgery didn’t slow Dallenbach down. “Just 3 months ago I had surgery; the first 2 months I had no physical activity and my doctors thought it would be borderline for me to even race at Pikes Peak,” stated Dallenbach.  “A month and 3 days ago I was medically cleared to get back in the car and to begin preparing for race day.”

After a 2-hour weather delay to start the day, the morning kicked off with the Exhibition class and Porsche Trophy class to allow the road plenty of time to warm up. Dallenbach was set to be 14th off the line. “The run was quickest in the bottom split, and then around Glen Cove the car started experiencing issues with 4th and 5th gear getting hung up a few times,” stated Dallenbach. “Let’s be honest, I run a Wells Coyote dirt car, with a 25 year old Menard’s IndyCar engine and even with the road being loose in places and the gears getting hung up at times we still almost won overall with it.”

“There’s so much promise and potential from the car; with the right budget we can really improve in the future. This year presented a unique opportunity to go for the overall however our main focus is the class win and getting back the class record.”

“Without the crew at Loophole Racing this wouldn’t be possible, they always put in the time to make the car what it needs to be. Thanks goes out to David and Deb Hoffpauir, Bud Hoffpaiur, Butch Baker, Mark Colton, Tony Peak, and Jonathan Shoop.”

Dallenbach’s appearance this year at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is made possible through his sponsors; Alpine Banks, Rock Valley Oil (RVO), Hoosier Racing Tires, Goebel Construction, Trust Me Vodka, BRM, Pikes Peak International Raceway (PPIR) and The Motor Sports Media Group – Race Central Media/ Radio and Television.
