(Colorado Springs, CO) – Paul Dallenbach Racing is pleased to announce official plans for the 100th Running of The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Presented by Gran Turismo. This year marks a year of changes, new challenges, and recognitions . The untimely death of Loophole Racing crew chief David Hoffpauir and his brother Bud at the end of 2021 left Dallenbach with many decisions to make regarding this year’s event. These decisions ultimately led to parking the Dallenbach Special for the foreseeable future and sourcing another car to race. “Losing David and Bud at the end of the year was a tragic loss and left a huge hole in our team,” stated Dallenbach. “This year we race in honor of them and hope to make them proud.”

After many discussions, an agreement was made with Sierra Cars to run their Sierra Car ALPHA with high hopes of resetting the open wheel record and taking the class win. “We did a shake down on the Sierra Alpha and I am really impressed with the handling,” stated Dallenbach.  “Our test was cut a little short, but we plan to test again on June 10th before we take it to Pikes Peak for the test on the 11th & 12th.”

Dallenbach is also proud to announce that he will be accepting the Pikes Peak Hill Climb Museum Hall of Fame induction on behalf of the Dallenbach Family. “It’s an honor to be accepting this award on behalf of my family,” stated Dallenbach. “For our induction to be happening during the 100th Running of the event is even more special.” The Dallenbach family has been a prominent fixture on Pikes Peak for many decades. Wally Sr. and his wife Peppy led by example with sons Wally Jr., Paul, and grandson Wyatt, who have all taken on the challenge of racing Pikes Peak. His involvement in the Race to Clouds began in the early 90’s when he served as race steward and advisor. Paul is the most well-known out of the family on Pikes Peak. His statistics include being a three-time “King of the Mountain”, in addition to numerous class wins and records. Wally Jr. competed 3 times, capturing the open wheel win in 2006 and Wyatt finished third in the Open Wheel division in his single attempt in 2012 as well as being named Co – Rookie of the year alongside Romain Dumas. The success of the Dallenbach family would not have been possible without the support and guidance from their father, Wally Sr.

Dallenbach’s appearance this year at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is made possible through his sponsors; Alpine Banks, VP Racing Fuels, Goebel Construction, Yokohama Tires, Haltech, BRM Americas, Force Engineering, Sign Edge, Podium Karting, and Project Daytona. “We are fortunate to have sponsors who are so generous and into racing, actively participating in our race preparation,” remarks Dallenbach.

About the Pikes Peak Museum Hall of Fame – The Pikes Peak Museum Hall of Fame is committed to honoring and preserving the achievements of individuals and/or organizations who have left an indelible mark on the Race to the Clouds, whether they are competitors, organizers, officials, members of the press, or volunteers. Anyone who shares a passion for speed and competition, in addition to a great respect for Pikes Peak – America’s Mountain, is eligible for a Hall of Fame nomination. Inductees will be honored during the “Road to 100” Reception on Thursday June 23, 2022.

About the Sierra Car ALPHA - The ALPHA is one of a kind, producing twice its weight in downforce using the big carbon fiber wings. Making up to 600 HP with a Garrett turbocharger. The power to weight ratio rivals the top hypercars in the world.

About the Race - The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is the second oldest motor sports race in America - Only the Indianapolis 500 is older - and a longstanding tradition in Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region. First competed in 1916, this year marks the 98th running of the "Race to the Clouds." The running of the race will take place on Sunday, June 30th with race related events during the preceding week. The infamous race is run on a 12.42 mile course with 156 turns that begins at 9,390 feet and finish at the 14,110 foot summit of America’s Mountain – where America the Beautiful was penned - Pikes Peak! As the gutsy drivers climb toward the summit, the thin air slows reflexes and saps physical muscle strength. The thin air - two miles above sea level - also robs engines of 30% of their power at the summit. Competitors and vehicles must be in top shape simply to finish...let alone win!

Race week kicks off on Monday June 20th with Technical Inspection at The Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs. Practice and qualifying begin Tuesday June 21st and will run throughout the week. On the evening of Friday June 24th 35,000+ race fans will take over downtown Colorado Springs at the infamous Fan Fest, back after a 2-year hiatus; where they can get up close to all of the race cars and meet the drivers.
